Challenge:
RCI Systems was contracted to provide a concert sound system on multiple stages as well as backline for one of the nation’s largest, free international arts festivals including seven divergent stages over three days, with artists performing, rain or shine, using many volunteer operators and stage managers. The Festival featured national recording artists, Cirque-like aerial artists, DJs, and local bands performing across an area that covered 30 square blocks in the center of Baltimore. This year, the “after hours party” expanded from two city blocks to ten city blocks on both Friday and Saturday.
RCI Solution:
RCI Systems designed equipment packages for individual stages to accommodate the variety of entertainment and audiences that were expected. Crews of dedicated RCI event technicians were stationed on several stages and teams of “floaters” moved from stage to stage, instructing and overseeing the volunteer operators in ATV vehicles through crowds estimated at 300,000. The event was open for 78.5 hours of continuous entertainment on seven stages and required more than 1240 hours of crew labor to complete.
