Artscape: RCI’s Goals and Challenges
Artscape is a massive festival located in the Mt. Royal neighborhood of Baltimore. The event hosts artists of every stripe, including musical artists of course, over three days. RCI was contracted to provide concert sound systems for five divergent stages as well as a backline for several of them. The artists who performed on these stages (recording artists, performance artists, aerialists, DJ’s, etc.) needed to do so regardless of the weather conditions. That’s right, rain or shine production! Our challenge was to serve these performers across an area spanning 30 square blocks in the heart of Baltimore. The production also ran during the “After Hours” party which expanded up to ten city blocks on Friday and Saturday.
Artscape: RCI’s Solutions and Success
In order to successfully serve Artscape, RCI Systems designed equipment packages that were uniquely suited for each individual stage and program. This way, we could accommodate the variety of entertainment and expected audiences. Our dedicated crew of event technicians were stationed on stages throughout the festival, to operate and monitor production. We also had “floaters” that would travel between stages and other entertainment areas in ATV’s to oversee volunteer operations. With the help of RCI Systems, the event was open and running for 78.5 hours of continuous entertainment on five different stages. Our dedicated crew put forth 1,240 hours of labor to complete the Artscape experience.
